BLIND ITEM:

This married actor had a one-night stand with one of his exes, who is an actress in an acclaimed television show. She wound up pregnant. The actor’s wife found out about the baby, and, to no one’s surprise, went completely ballistic. Both the actor and his wife tried every tactic (money, lawyers, threats to ruin her career) to convince the ex to terminate the pregnancy. Despite enormous pressure from all sides, the ex decided to keep the baby. The actor’s marriage is now on the rocks. We’re not sure how long everyone can remain tight-lipped about this one. It will be difficult to keep such a bombshell out of divorce proceedings, which will likely occur before the New Year.

Celebrating Eid in Dubai — Eid Mubarak!

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan when Muslim fast & pray to be closer with God. In Dubai, Eid is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm over a period of three days when Islam followers offer Eid prayers later on greeting families, relatives and friends with ‘Eid Mubarak’. The Eid-Ul-Fitr five-day holidays for the public sector have been announced starting from August 28, until the end of Ramadan when the new moon sighting indicates breaking of the fast. Government workers will rejoin their work on September 4.

The celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr lasts over three days where Muslims are expected to forgive and forget any past differences and animosities. It also means that the breaking of the fast will dissolve all bad habits & evils. After maintaining a strict regime of fast and prayers in the month of Ramadan, the festivities begin from the first day of the tenth month – Shawwal which also marks the start of three day Eid celebrations. After waking up early in the morning, taking a bath and putting on their best clothes, Muslims have a small breakfast which signifies that they are not fasting. After offering the Eid prayers, Dubaities visit their neighbours, friends and relatives to greet them ‘Eid Mubarak’. It is obligatory for the Muslims to do some charity work called Fitrana.

In Dubai, the celebrations include Muslims wearing new clothes to welcome the festivities. Generally, they wear long white dresses with a long traditional ‘Thoub’ and ‘Ogal’. The Ogal is a scarve with checkered patterns tied to the head with a black turban. Fairs are held throughout the city where women enjoy themselves by applying henna, shopping and preparing sweets for their near and dear ones. Many hotels and restaurants organize meal deals complete with Eid cuisine while malls attract customers with discounts & shopping extravaganzas.

Tourists who plan to visit Dubai over the coming weekend, could take advantage of spectacular promotions by hotels in Dubai.
